The year 2019 saw the worst fires to hit the Amazon Basin for over a decade. In a time where environmental issues are becoming increasingly political, the Amazon wildfires have become an incendiary topic that has garnered much attention on the international stage.

It has been reported that the Amazon forest, like the heart of the blue planet, is on fire. This news is a bittersweet news. The cause of the fire is adverse human activity. Most of them are farmers and timber dealers who clear the forest and set fire to it. The fire spreads across the jungle without control.

Manaus is famous for the ‘meeting of the waters’, the location where there is a confluence of the Rio Negro and the Rio Solimoes to form the Amazon river. During the burning season, the emissions from naturally-burning trees are exacerbated by anthropogenic emissions from industries and domestic emissions from cooking, heating, etc.
